The TP-Link TL-SX1008 is an unmanaged 8-port 10 Gigabit (RJ-45) switch designed for high-speed wired networking in both home and small-to-medium business setups. With all 8 ports capable of 10Gbps (while backward compatible with 5G, 2.5G, 1G and 100Mbps via auto-negotiation), this switch opens up fast interconnections for NAS units, 10G servers, WiFi 6 access points, gaming rigs, and video editing workstations.

With a switching capacity of 160 Gbps and forwarding rate of about 119 million packets per second (Mpps), it can handle heavy traffic loads with low latency.

Its metal chassis can be rack-mounted or placed on a desktop, and it features a single smart fan whose speed adjusts, helping balance cooling with noise.

One powerful feature is scalability: by combining three TL-SX1008 units, you can build a system delivering up to 24× 10Gbps ports. This is great where many devices need full-10G connectivity — for example, a lab or edit suite or when linking multiple high-performance storage devices. With proper cable management, rack mounting, and upstream 10G or faster uplinks, the trio of switches works together to form a high-bandwidth backbone.

Other notable points: supports Jumbo Frames (~10KB), has a MAC address table of around 32K, auto MDIX so no need for crossover cables, and supports QoS (802.1p/DSCP) to prioritise traffic.
